“I’m a creative problem solver.”

My name is Derek Adams and I’m a creative problem solver who wants to use my creative and functional designs to bring client’s ideas to life. I have over 10 years’ experience transforming visual problems into human-centered designs that continue to solve creative problems. This includes evolving trends within public affairs by leveraging my expertise in content creation, emerging technologies, creative direction, design, and UI theory as well as project management.

Building a strong foundation is a crucial part in ensuring a design has optimal impact. My approach includes constant communication with key stakeholders to identify concerns and potential resolutions to visual problems, ensuring research and data is used to drive decisions while integrating my own style and flare so it resonates for years to come. I have effectively used this process for over a decade and have created designs for The Red Cross, CBS Radio, Department of State (DOS), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) the White House, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and multiple commercial and private agencies. My work has evolved client engagement, driven campaign performance, made user experience more intuitive, and optimized brands’ positioning.

Whether it’s thinking about a creative solution for a project or what I want to eat, design is a part of my everyday life. My flexibility, resiliency under pressure, leadership in team settings and proactiveness as a sole project manager have been my strongest attributes. No design job is ever the same whether it’s something as small as creating a business card to a billboard for a major organization; they all present different creative challenges, different audiences to consider and different targets or objectives to meet. However, I tackle them all by deploying my own strategy that builds the necessary foundation that ensures optimal results.
